How do you get PDFs on to a kindle I've just got one so would be intrested in how to do this
ta :D
Well the old way was to email them to your free kindle address ie johnsmith@free.kindle.com if you want them converted to mobi put the word convert in the subject line but sometimes it is better to leave them in PDF format.

But having a mess around yesterday there are two apps out on Amazon.com (the US site) but they do work when you put your UK details in,,, the first is called "send to kindle PC",,, when installed you can right click on any document on your computer and you have an option to send direct to your kindle ,it has a 50mb limit which is twice as much as the email limit, works great.

The second is even better it lets you install a button on your browser which send any article etc you are reading direct to your kindle, will find the links in a mo. http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle

Yep Methuselahs Children and Time Enough for Love are right up near the top of my list, its a shame the stuff he wrote at the end of his life was not as good, his estate are doing a high quality set of all his works leather bound etc called The Virginia Edition, pity its $1500, :o , If you can get a copy look out for "grumbles from the grave" his autobiography

Papillon by Henri La Charriere, a biographical account of how he escaped prison from Devils Island in French Guiana, the only person ever to do so. He was sentenced to life for a murder he didn't commit and he eventually obtained a pardon. A truly tough hombre and an inspirational account on overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. Every prepper should read it so they can understand what can be achieved when the chips are down. Cracking film as well with Steve Mcqueen and Dustin Hoffman. If the SHTF this is the book I'd want with me for inspiration.

Hmm tricky one, I guess most of the time it's like a good movie, it kind of changes when I read another good un. However, Watchers by Dean Koontz is a special book to me, (and any dog loving person I'd imagine!) I also have a fond place for 'The Stand'. Ditto 'Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah' and 'k-Pax'. Recently I've enjoyed 'One Second After' and just finished the first book of 'Hater' series, which has that lovely British feel that James Herbert horrors also had: It's also an interesting look at Blightly breaking down into chaos. Also read 'The Passage' which I really enjoyed, although not got around to reading the 2nd book in the series. Oh and 'The Wolf's hour' was a jolly good fun take of WW2 spies and werewolves, a winning combo if ever there was one!

Half way through 'flood' by Stephen Baxter. A really good read so far.

I do realize I have now posted the last three threads so maybe this has died a death but I am forever reading.
I've just found an incredible book shop where ANY title is €2 second hand.
And so I read Fahrenheit 451, which was a tough slog but also 'The Day Of The Triffids' which was brilliant. Although very cheesey scifi it did also go into the TEOTWAWKI/preppers theme. A good read!

I seem to be having a hard time getting "into" new authors these days and end up going back to my favs, however I have to recommend John Ringo especially the Posleen War series, took a couple of reads to get into (very American), and some of his stuff (collaborations mostly) he seems to have phoned in , but stick to the main series and he is very good,

The Survivalist series by the late Jerry Ahern was all that got me through the 2 hour bus journey to college all those years ago. By the time book 16 or 17 come the story is getting a little far fetched but good story line none the less.
