You're right, that is the hardest decision

I don't think there is one "right" thing to do, no one size fits all solution...and that applies to both rural and urban settings. It all depends on an individuals circumstances. You could have 2 seperate people in exactly the same situation who come up with completely opposite solutions, both of which being right for the individuals concerned and their differing circumstances.

I'm bugging in until it gets too dangerous...or appears to be at least. Other people's first choice might be to head for the hills at the first sign of trouble, like I said earlier, what works for some wont work for others.

If you are living in an urban environment though, one of the lessons from the riots is to be aware how quickly things can kick off and spread out of control, more population = larger amount of people ready to loot/rob at the drop of a hat, so the means to (legally) defend my family and property would be high on my agenda.

That reminds me, I must get down the Archery range for some more practice...purely for the sport you understand, I would't dream of pointing anything sharp at a looter

It confirms what I already know! In any situation like that, your on your own. You've got to look after yourself and your family. I know it sounds selfish, but me, my wife and the kids come first!

I think he talks more sense than our bloody politicians to be honest. And I DO think that, for some young people gang membership does actually give them a sense of belonging where their family has failed them. I can sympathise with some of these youngsters who have a pretty shit home life and are seeking to 'fit in' somewhere and feel part of something, having been there myself when I was younger. But I don't think these riots were about the 'gang' culture to be honest. They were about GREED!!!

We have an entire generation who are fixated by 'celebrity' culture, who want everything but who don't want to have to work for it, and who think that the world owes them a favour. They have no respect for anyone! The idea of having to save for something is completely alien to them. Need a new TV? Get it on chucky. Want to go on holiday? Stick it on a credit card. This came through loud and clear last week! These kids weren't looting Tesco for food, they were pillaging high end stores such as Diesel, Bang & Olufsen and expensive boutiques!

I completely agree with the harsh sentences that are being dished out, but if the country hadn't ended up in this situation due to years of leftie liberals being in charge eroding the rights of parents, the authorities and teachers and giving children far too many rights (did you know that kids can divorce their parents - WTF?), then we wouldn't have had the riots in the first place! Moral decay has been eating away at the soul of our country for too long, and I don't actually know how it can be fixed.
