I have made what I think is a great prep, I've handed my 2 weeks notice after being offered a job that pays almost 6k a year more. I will finally be able to start living and not scraping a living. I never realised that living on my own would almost financially break me. I will now be able to afford to find somewhere with a garden and also fill my prep cupboard up somewhat.

We should all live within our means..... Now you've got bigger means then you had :)

Trying not to put too much of a downer on it  , remember that employment is a fickle thing nowadays. So make hay while the sun shines, stock up and stash what you can when times are fat.

Thanks guys. As I say, I intend to stock up on as much as possible whilst I can as soon as I can. That includes finding accommodation that will allow me to grow my own vegetables and fruit.

Good for you Terry.

The two best things I ever did to further my self reliance was get rid of debt and have space to grow my own food.

Excellent, its always good to see someone doing well.
For me, it may be some time before I am there, but i have hopes and dreams and i am not afraid of hard work either :)
I started with a new agency recently and that should make financial survival a lot easier, and with a bit more dedication, I may even have a normal person's income soon :)
