Decided to reduce the overlap of prepping stuff and my bedroom even further, once the decorating is done. I already moved the rack, which had my early prepping stuff, like camping stoves, into the prep room. But my t-shirts are on the clothes rail in the prep room. And the wardrobe in my bedroom had virtually nothing I'm wearing, mostly winter clothes and bugout bags. All that's gonna change. A clear demarcation, so I'm not living in a store room, or getting changed in another store room. Even my toothbrush is in the prep room!
I might have to have a few prep things in here, eg some water and an electric radiator under the bed. And maybe bugout bags still in the bottom of the wardrobe. I'll still keep my headtorch on the bed post, and a shoulder bag on my bedroom door, which has copies of important documents. If I had to evacuate at night, I want most things I need in here. But I don't want too much on my bedroom door, so maps and hiking trousers are on the prep room door. They have been for a while actually. Also my winter jacket was on that door, but is now on top of bugout bags.
I waxed the wardrobe in Briwax Tudor Oak, and it's nice. Darker, and less organge, with a slight sheen. Just waiting for some blue-grey Dulux tester pots for the wall that the wardrobe goes in front of. Rest of the room will be in Timeless.
Got a quote from two lads cutting a hedge across the road. £40-60 depending how long I leave it. I just did it, so it won't need doing for a while.

Wowee! Everyone’s going great guns!!
I just had the car serviced and 4 new tyres. Ordered more repeat prescription meds. Made ginger beer and elderflower cordial. Scale and polish at the dentist. Off to the shops to stock up on food tomorrow.
Lots of luck and hugs for you Sarina, you sound so strong

Sarini, sorry, spellcheck is nuts on my phone

Corner of a floorboard is broken, in my room. It was under my bed before. I keep catching my foot on it. The crack is at a small angle to the horizintal, so the main ok bit overlaps the broken bit, which has sagged down. Ordered some filler/adhesive. I'll try to pull the broken bit up by driving a screw in. If it works, the screw will add a bit of strength, too.
Ordered a new extension lead for the TV, as the old one was old (possible fire risk), and too short. New one has surge protection. Also ordered some paintable trunking for the 4 wires that go up the chimney breast to the TV. And ordered some expandable mesh tubes for the 4 wires running along the bottom of the skirting in both directions. I might also clip them to the skirting. All the hideous mass of other wires is hidden behind my amp, or even behind the drawers it's on.
Contemplated chucking my small book case, but decided to keep it. I can't even see 99% of it, as I type now. It's somewhere to keep my phone at night, hand torch, spare batteries. I'll probably put my prep related books back on it, after the decorating's done. It also keeps my printer out of sight.

I'm not a 'car' person so I take my metal-box-on-wheels to a garage near work.
Anyway, loud noises while braking is not good. So, I rolled it over there and let them loose.
It seems I only had one rear brake working so it was doing double duty.
Two sets of pads, two disks and one caliper plus labour later and now I can tell the difference
Other preps include, some stuff done in the garden, several orders on my second income stream completed and 2 1/2 Toz of silver bought at £5.50 per troy under spot

Weird thing's happened. My ex gardener killed my honeysuckle by cutting the bottom 50% off. Well, it's started to grow back, but it's popping up all over the place, like in the middle of the lawn!. Not sure what to do. I don't mind a few bits growing back near the fence, but it's out of control already. I've pulled some up, and will do some more, but it's all happened in a few days. Any tips?

It'll be growing from the root system in all likelihood which will have spread out. All you can really do is to keep removing shoots in the wrong place and leave the ones in the right place alone. Funnily enough on monday I went to trim a large rosebush that had gotten out of control. It had grown over the single story roof and was starting to grow into the roof. Customer had first decided to chop the whole thing down but was pursued to remove just what was on the roof by friends. This I did and arranged to go today to replace some broken tiles and rebed the ridge. In the meantime she called to say it had fallen down , basically it was holding itself up by growing into the roof. I've ended up chopping the majority down but left the stem and root so hopefully it should reshoot.
With regards to your floorboard , it can be a good idea to check underneath incase there are pipe and cable runs. If you can lift it a very simple solution is to screw a timber to the underside of the adjacent boards ( from above obviously) and then screw the lifted board to it as well.

Cheers. It is growing under the lawn. I pulled some out by the roots, and some just where it was growing. I've had bamboo do the same. I'll have to keep on top of mowing the lawn. I don't think it's a coincidence though, that it's spread out more since the so-called gardener chopped it all down.grenfell wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 5:29 pm It'll be growing from the root system in all likelihood which will have spread out. Regarding the floorboard. Fortunately this one board has been cut, so could be lifted. I'd have to stain and varnish it to match the rest. I'll probably leave it now til after the decorator's been.

Prepping in reverse - emptied 1 x 10l and 4 x 5l of water that was under the bed. I only have 10l recently changed full, and 20l changed about a year ago. Not ideal, but it's only for a week, hopefully. Decorating my room should start on Monday. Prep room is pretty chocca, but I can get to things.
Decided to put stain block on part of where the leak was. I had the textured finish patched up, and it's white, but it had got a bit stained in the corner. I'm sure the roof's not leaking though. Cut corners and basically got paint all over my hand. It wouldn't come off! Eventually got most of it off with meths and a cloth, plus a few goes with soap. Still got some on. Used more than half a bottle of meths to clean the brush.
