We are looking at 33C and 20 overnight. Lots of homemade lollies in freezer, lots of squash ready and will be staying inside with curtains closed for the. worst of it. I may need to stick Mr GB in the bath to cool down as he really doesn't do heat.

Spain's already recorded 46°. Found myself casually looking at air con this morning. 28 forecast here in Manchester.

It's a thought, but I need to stop spending, and start saving. Got some windows open, blinds down, and fan on. This room is the hottest in the house, year round, and is 26° already. And I am someone who feels the heat more than most people. But I'm not feeling too hot yet. I would be if I was moving about a lot.

Bit of a pain having the window open when an orchestra is practicing at the bottom of your garden. Turned my music up a bit. Fortunately the walls are double thickness on that side.

Got more water swapped out and stashed under my bed.

Rotated one long life Spice Tailor curry over tonight and last night. Yummy!

Decided my new pic is a bit wide for the alcove. Expensive mistake. It can go on another wall. Ordered a similar one but by a different artist, that's taller and narrower. It's from Art Print Shop, and is very good quality. The original is pallette knife, and the texture looks real. Colours are fantastic.

Me ..selling house away from the awful neighbours who would turn on each other in a second normally, let alone shtf
Me ..going to live by woods in country setting with no neighbours and talk to the animals so I did
Me ..slaughtered the squirrels and done the wasps in ..killed some mice ...
Now rats ...
Anyone had experience with peppermint on cotton wool balls ? Does it work ..ish ..
I've got the rat wire blocked up the only holes I can find under sink area ...solid flooring ...
My elderly cat Shirley has found her youth 7 dead ones so far this week on doorstep she usually doesn't move for 23 hour a day
This mornings shenanigans looked like a scene from a comedy as she launched a rather large live one at me
No neighbours to hear my screams at least or see the strange dance I did
Googled a lot and peppermint seems to be most pet friendly shirley i dont wanna kill )

Nope it won't work GG. Only thing that did for us was a feral but friendly tomcat and later on a Rat Man that the neighbour paid for (well she overfed the birds and attracted the rats in the first place). The whole terrace of 4 houses got them in the end. RatMan was great.

Oh no GeeGee - you have all my sympathy! I’ve not caught any yet after setting extra traps and disrupting their rat runs etc. It’s so frustrating as I can watch them running around the chicken run in broad daylight from an upstairs window I’m now considering trying my air rifle as I’m a decent shot but might buy some eye protection first as I’m worried about ricochet (I’ve experienced that twice and it’s not fun)! All advice on shooting rats/how to prevent ricocheting gratefully received. Won’t try it this evening- too windy!
