Home Security Upgrades
Re: Home Security Upgrades
I was just looking through the thread, and saw mayesy's pic of the car parked directly in front of the garage. I'm not quite sure my tips are about *home* security, but definitely about car security (maybe we need another thread? ). First is to always reverse in to wherever you're parking, so you can get out with the least fuss and bother. Sometimes that can be important. And the other is that if you're going to put things in the boot for security, to avoid being seen by toe-rags wherever you're parking, do it away from the space you're actually parking - if people are scoping out the car park, they can still see you putting the stuff in your boot. Do it a mile away or so, and then when you park up for the day, you just leave the car and go.

On the flip side bonnet close to a wall or door makes it hard to pinch engine parts catalytic converters / diesel particulate filters both command a high price on the second hand market as do ECU computers and other sensor's... You can't win
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong

Re: Home Security Upgrades
Great advice shocker - perhaps a link to the relevant product would be better anyways.
Arzosah - acted upon! I always worry about my little lad somehow getting out of the house and me running him over as I reverse so this helps too!

I don't have the luxury of a gated driveway.
Bollards stuck on the end of your driveway can deter potential car thieves.

Re: Home Security Upgrades
The viper locks look interesting! Not sure about the bollards, tbh - they're so unusual on private property, I suspect they'd attract attention.
I know what you mean about littl'uns accidentally getting run over on your own property my own inclination is that if a small child is out at the front of the house, cared for by me, then if I need to get in the car to move it a short distance, then either they sit in the back of the car (as a playpen, type thing) or I take them inside the house and shut the door. They don't have road sense, and its not fair to them to act as though they do, just because you're at home ("you" general you, not specific you!).

Hi all,
ring.com
Upgrade your doorbell to a motion detection CCTV and visitor alert system.
You can even communicate remotely and pretend that you are upstairs (but really at work) should a local scum bag be looking for directions (but really testing to see if house unoccupied)
