Yes, its easy to let things slide but not so easy to stop it.

Especially as no doubt half the 13 - 16 year olds looting will be having kids of their own soon (if they haven't already) and bringing them up in the same way.

All the time we pay kids to produce more kids nothing is going to change

It's a career choice these days, why go to work when some other mug can go to work instead to provide you with an income and a house, while you can sit on your fat arse with your sky tv, smoking, and moaning about how "unfair" society is

And thats not just "Daily Mail" bs, my niece has chosen to do exactly that, along with a lot of her friends unfortunately :(

And it's only going to get worse.

my step sister did exactly the same. Decided that work was for mugs, got pregnant, dumped the dad and got herself a semi-detached council house, 1/4 the fathers income as support and all her bills paid by the council.

for some reason we haven't spoken for a few years now

I agree, I would have a lot more sympathy (well, maybe a little more :D ) to the concept that they were looting because they were poor and excluded if they came out of Tesco's with bread and milk and a few potatos instead of heading straight for the alcohol and electronic equipment.

If any of the looters was spotted with a tin of baked beans it was probably only to throw at the police.

For all the chattering on the news channels about inequality, poverty etc, I think itsy summed it up when she said it was just greed, and also the feeling that even if they did get caught nothing would happen to them other than a caution or an asbo.....looks like a few are getting a nasty suprise :D

From a prepping point of view it also shows that quite a few "normal" people as well as the chavs and scum could well be looking to to rob you/ burn down your flat etc. The amount of people who seemed to join in just for fun or as the opportunity arose is depressing

ditto my friends "kid" sister, had 2 children by different fathers and got a council house, the children got older and when asked what she would do when they reached an age when The Job Centre would expect her to look for a job replied_"i'll just have another kid!", in respect of the riots i dont think we've seen the last of those, the yobs have seen that they can riot and the police wont intervene until after its all over, so it may all happen again, this would seem to be a good reason to prepare if anyone hasnt already.

Thirty plus years ago my dentist's assistant deliberately got pregnant to get a Council house and move out from her parents.

She died some eight years later from a drug overdose. An utter waste of a young, intelligent lass's life.

All we've learned is that London is a ticking timebomb and a terrible place to live. I implore everyone to come and live with me in a survival commune in the North East. It's the only way to survive.

I thought you lived in Essex ? :D

The thought of living in a commune with a bunch of hairy arsed survivalists playing at being soldiers is not one that particularly appeals to me ....I think I would rather take my chances in Tottenham
