Looked into recycling my old bedding, but couldn't find anything, so it may have to go into landfill.
Wash it rip it into squares and use them as cleaning rags...

Not the most environmentally friendly route but you get another use from them before they go in the bin

Last night got a shout that the bathroom light wasn't working.... joy....

Stood on the edge of the bath illuminated by a camping lantern and the little solar powered pir lamp .. globe removed... led lamp had gone into the zombie stores cupboard .... replacement lamp found and fitted . Happy wife and all that

Not the end of the world but makes life easier having basic house hold spares on the shelf ...
Kitchen lamp would be an issue being a led strip light but im sure I'd be able to get a new fitting next day if /when it dies. Shtf I'd pinch the one out the shed

Picked up a couple of water butts from the local tip recycling centre. £5 each. Couple of small cracks - nothing that can't be fixed by a bit of epoxy. Came with lids and taps, so little job and plenty of water storage for the garden.

It's a thought. Storage space is an issue though. I've accumulated more stuff since I began my de-cluttering!

Sorted through my light bulbs, after reading Andy's post. Some were in an open tupperware near the cooker, and had got greasy over the years. Most were the early types of low wattage bulbs so I chucked those. The ones in boxes weren't greasy so I kept those, and moved them to the prep room rack, in a big plastic bin. Checked what uses what, and made some notes.

Living room lamp stays on all night. I only have one spare, and it might not be new. Swapped them anyway, and ordered some more off Amazon. They are Lepro, same make as what I buy for bedroom and living room bulbs. Also ordered a digital timer for that lamp, which can go on and off 3 times a day. I might swap to not having it on all night.

Kitchen has 2 screw in bulbs, and I have 2 spares.

Bathroom has a normal bayonet plus a wall lamp. It's E14, but an R50 reflector. I have no spare, but could use one of the spares for the living room light temporarily. I don't remember changing it, so it must be old.

That's the other reason I bought the timers. Didn't know you can buy lamps with build in ones. Done now, anyway. And I can use one so the living room lamp isn't on all night. I don't think it needs to be.

Charity shops round here still take textiles for recycling, if that helps.

Worth asking. I have some clothes for recycling too, but they can go in Sainsburys. I might have one or two things for Oxfam though.

Timers just arrived. Tested one and my bedroom lamp just came on. I'm only going to use it if I leave the house empty though. The other one I will be using daily for the living room lamp. It won't fit in the socket because of a book case, so I'm waiting for a short extension lead. Then I can test that. Pack of bulbs for that lamp also arrived. Stored with the others in the prep room.

I also leave a radio on a talk station, and the blind down.

I've been chatting to GPT and it recommende some lap vents which create a space for air where the roofing membrane overlaps. Cheap, and easy to fit yourslelf. Got 2 packs in my basket. Different makes, as some fit tighter gaps better than others. Also gonna get another digital thermometer with humidity that transmits to my phone, and put it in the roof. Basically trying to avoid condensation on the rafters and purlins.

Had a good conversation with the lodger who's leaving. He offered to pay some towards getting the floor re-done, but I said I'd give him all his deposit, plus a bit of interest.
