What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Magz - That's cool. I've often thought a crossbow would be ideal post-SHTF. I've got a lot of woods at the back of my house which would be ideal for hunting small animals and birds etc.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I agree, Crossbows and Bows have the advantage of being virtually silent and ideal for keeping a low profile, also you can in a lot of instances retrieve your arrow/bolt and with a bit of practice you can make usable arrows/bolts indefinitely.

The armex pistol crossbows and full crossbows are meant to be good. Reasonably priced too. I'm thinking about getting one in the new year

Magz,
You'll need some decent tips for your bolts when 'hunting'! Something like these broadheads http://www.bladesandbows.co.uk/broadheads-270-p.asp

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Finally got some more hearing aid batteries for my stash. Will go back and get some more in the New Year. Strangely, they don't seem to keep a record of how many they give out and dish 'em out like sweeties. 'Tis good from a prepping point of view, though. And it's not like I'm not going to use them!
And I am obsessively checking the homeswapper website every day. Saw a great house with a garden and a cellar but the tenant doesn't want to move here. Oh well, keep trying!

That's what I had in mind when I choose a crossbow, even I could work out how to make an arrow post shtf.Carrot Cruncher wrote:I agree, Crossbows and Bows have the advantage of being virtually silent and ideal for keeping a low profile, also you can in a lot of instances retrieve your arrow/bolt and with a bit of practice you can make usable arrows/bolts indefinitely.

I'm in the process of baking my first ever loaf of bread by hand! Its at the 'proving' stage now, just before it goes in the oven... will be interesting to see how it turns out later

Excellent! Let us know how you get on. I was brought up on home made bread and make a lot of our own. We have a bread maker which can be useful, but still prefer to make from scratch myself.scoobie wrote:I'm in the process of baking my first ever loaf of bread by hand! Please post photos of the final product.
I think the ability to cook is often missed with preppers. Who's going to deny that bread is a staple food.
