Agreed. I think if we all looked around we would find plenty of stuff lying about.7 lives wrote:Biggest achievement this week -sorted out power options for nebuliser-thank you so much all who helped me with this.

Spent the afternoon fiddling around with a couple of CB radios, my modern uniden 40 channel works fine, but the old Midland 150m wont switch on..which is a shame because I like old stuff.

Really eaten in to our food preps last few months with money shortage so this weekend i will be doing a magical smart price shop.
With this in mind i'm trying to think of variations in what i buy. usually its loads of tins, rice, oats etc
anyone anything else that has very long life that i could add to the list

Could you buy some of the flavoursome dried beans etc, like red kidney beans, or chickpeas? Because they're dried, they're really good value. And if you use the rice with lentils, you've got the protein equivalent of steak.bettersafethansorry wrote:Really eaten in to our food preps last few months with money shortage so this weekend i will be doing a magical smart price shop.

Otherwise, its about flavourings, for me - pesto, tomato puree, toasted sesame oil.
Check out cashews too - just throw them into the pan when you're frying onions, they can be really nice. Got to watch the prices tho, they're weird:
Sainsbo:
200g salted roasted cashews, £1.40 (70p per 100g)
200g plain cashew kernels, £2.50 £1.25 per 100g).
Asda
125g smartprice salted cashews 75p (60p per 100g)
350g chosen by you roasted and salted £2.98 (85.1p per 100g).
Sorry to run away with the cashews

Finished off a gas bottle burner, which was an ongoing project for the last 18 months.
Initial burn was good. Just needs a few finishing touches.

I've spent ages trying to find a suitable EDC pouch, the trouble is I wear a rucksack for my work, which means anything that goes on my belt is akward, and I really cant put much more in the rucksack it's too heavy now with all the bits and bobs squeezed in, plus my heavy work kit..

Started laying in some more petrol for the gennies. Yes I know the rules about how much can be stored. Mine is in metal Jerry cans in a brick lined pit out in the open, half way up the garden at least 200 feet from any dwelling. I will keep it in for 3 months and rotate it into my motor.
