Popped into a shop that sells ex-military clothing & paraphenalia - jackets, russian hats etc. Was very tempted by a Czech 'extreme weather' jacket!
Got the last of my christmas presents today. Glad that's out of the way! Now I'm free to spend any spare cash on stocks of food & other items for my prep.

That's what I had in mind when I choose a crossbow, even I could work out how to make an arrow post shtf.
Its called a BOLT not an ARROW
Yeah I know lol but that's way my mind works and I explain things ass ways , was thinking I could make arrows so I should get a bow then moved on from that to getting a crossbow lol ya get me
Prefer a long bow and arrows myself got 2, the 1st i got from a dealer at a car boot in Somerset, don't think he knew what it was-only cost me £2! fitted it up with strimmer line and its one powerful bow!! 2nd one cost me £25 at a sunday market!
With regard to bows, if you look at the scores achieved in competition as a guage of their accuracy then the Compound bow is the best, followed by a sighted recurve, followed by longbows/AFB's etc. The problem with Compounds though is they have lots of bits to go wrong and imo a takedown recurve is the best compromise between simplicity and accuracy (if we are talking about using in a post fall environment). For fun though, you can't beat a Longbow.
Xbows though are a lot smaller and easier to hide/carry around and are easier to use so have advantages over bows but also take longer to reload.
Never had a compound or recurve bow, i've only ever had long bows so thats what i'm used to, i think they are quite simple to use and accurate-once you have had the practice!

I would prefer to use a longbow, but in my case they are too long, I need the break downability of the recurve..
Each to their own NR, i assume you need to break it down to hide it? i don't have to, within 2 minutes i can be out in the fields and woods hunting.
oh well, i don't have to do that, if i take my gun anywhere its in a gun slip in the back of the car covered up and the bow would be the same, after TSHTF i'm not going to be so fussy-nobody better get in my way, thats all i'm saying!!
My Sainsbury's Local is like a treasure trove at the minute. They've got boxes of Clarityn/Piriton anti-hystamine on sale for 25p down from £3.30!!! Needless to say I grabbed a handful, I would have bought more but there was a huge debate at the till about whether it was legal for me to buy more than two packets. Once the staff had actually decided that it was in fact okay and I probably wasn't about try and overdose on allergy tablets I didn't want to arouse suspicion by taking their entire stock. I'll just pop back tomorrow after work...
itsy - that sounds great. I guess you've checked the date on them? I use them myself, but have no idea how long they last. VERY handy for allergic reactions...
