Good idea.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Not really impressive (but thanks for saying so!), just our way of living, if you do not do it yourself, plan and prepare months and years ahead you go hungry and get cold as we live on what we produce and procure by bartering and selling any surplus. ........

For interest our days begin @ 6 am and finish as and when, currently it is 11 pm here and I am waiting for the two pressure canners to finish whilst enjoying a glass of wine and my partner has just finished clearing up after making a batch of sausages and burgers so will be joining me soon.

So that is a brief insight to how we live, prepare and survive. It is not for everyone but...............
Yup, I'm still impressed :) I really wish I'd followed my gut and bought a land-rich property in my 30s, but nowadays I have trouble managing my little semi-detached property.

Swapping out my water, again! This time it will have tap run first, correct number of Milton, and Oasis tab added to new water. Done 1x10 and 4x5 litres so far. From now on it will be twice a year.

Complained to post office for leaving parcel on my doorstep. It's like a big sign to burglars saying 'no one it in, come in, help yourself!'. And I told them that. I wasn't even out! Amazon do it as well, even though I've left instructions not to. Sent an email to next door asking them to take things in if they see them.

Sorted a couple of things in my bugout gear. Pot gripper and salt. You don't need salt for short durations, but it's a tiny container. Pot has wire handles, but they get hot.

Well, we did get a rain warning off the Met!
Rain was so heavy just now, I got a minor flood in the cellar. Got most of it up with a big sponge and spare washing up bowl. It was in front of the skylight/soakaway. Also small damp patch near electrics. Fortunately the water on the floor missed my new dehumidier, which I'll run tomorrow.

I don't have a basement but I have a decent submersible pump and 2 lots of lay flat 2" hose for it ... along with a numatic henry wet vac saves lots of grief

Cellar flooding from intense rain last night has mostly dried out this morning. There's a bit of damp under an old dryer that's not been used for decades. It must have entered by a small hole in the wall, due to the rain being so intense the soil didn't have time to absorb it, so the light well developed a puddle. I could hear the rain splashing on it.

Inside cellar absolute humidity was 10.4 first thing, not bad, considering. Below 10.5 is target. But it's only 6.4 outside, so I've allowed air to come in, and put the kitchen extractor fan on.

Will be interesting to see how cold the cellar gets, as there are some cold nights coming up. 3° tonight on Accuweather. But the room above isn't really being used now, so it's not critical. I'm not planning on using any heat until November.

Steady day here doing some preparations for winter, swept all the chimneys, dismantled, cleaned and replaced (where needed) all the pipes for the petchkas and log burners. Local farmer saw us on the roof and asked if we would do his for him, not a problem. We now have an extra 3 sacks of corn and 3 sacks of wheat stored in the barn along with an order for broiler chickens and a bee hive plus colony next year.
