What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
Today my prepping moved beyond research and planning - I've filled 6 10 litre containers with tap water, following the advice laid out in a other thread. I've also set a repeating reminder on my phone to periodically replace the water.

DON’T FORGET THE CHEESEFrnc wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 2:31 pm I just realised, things like cream crackers are a good prep food. Fairly high calories, low bulk, fairly long term storage. You can even eat them without marge or butter, although I prefer them with. They are also light in weight, if you need to bug out. You can tape the packet back closed pretty well.

Thats the winter throws getting washed, I am checking the hot water bottle (I need to buy a second one) and I’ve just had the heating system fully serviced.
I need to get a couple of sets of thermal underwear and I need to winter proof my boots, dubbing and polishing type stuff.
My car was due to get serviced in September but my garage is fully booked so I have had to put it back till next month but it will be done for the worst of the weather I think.
Off topic but I’ve just been stung at the dentist yesterday, a NHS crown just cost me £400. Nowt to do with prepping but I have to moan somewhere!

Better of been made from a Crown too.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

The enamel white ‘private’ one was only £650 Pseud, I’m not sure if the NHS costs have risen or that they have lowered the private cost to try and attract me over and stop my NHS status with them!
I will cling on to my NHS patient status as a matter of bloody principle though, it’s wha I pay my taxes for!!!

I wish! Twice, I've been enrolled at an NHS dentist, and they turned private
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
When we moved here we couldn't find a NHS dentist to take us even thought the nearest one is only a mile away. Even the private one has a waiting list now as they are so much in demand. I had a crown fitted 25 years ago and our dentist tells me they are only supposed to last 10 years. It cost me £650 then as our previously NHS dentist had gone "independent" which he said was half way between NHS and private. I dread to think what a new one will cost but luckily, I now consider having some savings as a useful prep so could afford it when the time comes.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
We don’t have problems that way in Edinburgh at least not any more. I get my check ups and usual dentistry stuff through the NHS with any ‘cosmetic’ stuff done privately. They keep asking me if I want to go fully private but I cling to my NHS status for grim death!
My old man got fed up with Australian dentists and flew up to India to get his teeth sorted a few years back. He asked me what I thought and I replied that the last time I saw a smile like his was on the 3.30 at Aintree…

I had an NHS dentist over ten years ago and got a letter that I'd been removed from the practice due to "Reduced capacity".... It turned out the guy I was listed under got deported (and a rumour that he wasn't qualified as well)
Last year I managed to get back on an NHS list, just in time for a dodgy tooth to finally give up.

Lit it outside for 20 mins as the instructions advise to burn off any manufacturer's residue
3kw is A rated efficiency
214 g/h at a max setting of 3 kW so a 15kg butane will theoretically last 70hrs constant running not that you'd run it at 3kw 24hrs a day unless it was absolutely baltic
