Leeks and peppers currently in the dehydrator, I hope the peppers don't come out 'leeky'. I'm making a conscious effort to stay away from Mr Amazon for a few weeks, I got a guuchi spare flint and steel today all the way from china, I'll be having a play tomorrow, just to test it of course. Slowly sorting out my zombie stores, I'm at the 1 step back stage at the moment, still hopeful for the 2 forward. Still dragging arse on the woodstore I'm building too, I'm a bad man, at least according to Mrs Deeps. :(

I did strawberries and onions at the same time, not on the same trays obviously and they were fine 8-) no cross contamination

I'm sitting on my debit card now too as I ordered a lot more ball jars today....

Thanks for letting me know, I had 3 trays of peppers and was looking for something to fill the other two. I guess if strawberries were ok with onions I should be fine. I checked them earlier and they were all dehydrating nicely, a good smell in the garage too. While I mind, Mrs Deeps has got a load of onions, beetroot and tatties from her allotment, the onions look a bit 'scrappy' so will make great fodder for the dehydrator.

My fan is in the bottom so I put strawberries on bottom trays and ponky onions on the top trays. ;) if your fan is at the top put the less ponky stuff on the top

Thanks Decaff, whoops, I had the leeks at the top but to even out the dehydrating process I've just swapped them around, I'll see what they're like in the morning, I can't be arsed to go back and swap them. The kindle jars are filling up nicely. :D

The cheapest and easiest way to build a woodstore is to use pallets.

I'm building it at the side of the house and using the 6' fence between us and the neighbours as the back. I've postcreted a couple of posts in, in line with the fence supports and intend to use decking boards to panel the sides and either use some old boards to put a sloping roof on and felt them or get a sheet of the clear perspex (easier to make the wood dry in what is a shady area). To be honest, the fact that I've loafed on it is annoying Her Maj way more than it should and the petty part of me is loving it. Nothing too sexy, I don't need a huge woodshed, I'm just playing at it, I'm in a toasty new build with no wood burner, its just for the chiminea.

Half of my wood stores are made from pallets. One for the base, three for the walls and one as the roof with some plastic sheeting to keep the rain off. All nailed together. They are surprisingly stable - I have moved them about a bit to find the most sheltered location in my garden. I have about two weeks worth of logs in each.

10 Kg rice in case I cant get to the shops when the winter comes or that tesco cant get to me whatever....
The next big thing is to stock up on the Urid Dal that I use for breads (waffles, pancakes etc).
Hoping that I can carry a full 8 - 12 Kg back from the little international cuisine shop down the road.

The pile of macro-nutritional foods in the corner of the room is increasing nicely. More lentils are gonna be required.

And I am on day 9 nicotine free. However my junk food intake has gone through the roof and I am hoping to bring myself back on track soon.
