IPK

Post by PaganPrepper »

I'm sure many of our members who are ex-forces of a certain generation, will know the IPK! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K ... nouabou-21 it's an amazing bit of kit and well worth the inclusion in your kit! a few modifications and you're set! I've just today modded one of mine to improve the strength of the guide line hole's I previously added, and added attached some pound shop foil blankets as an experiment to help reflect any heat back towards me.

I use this rather than a tent and with the supplied rods, some braches, leaves etc it can be a very nice alternative and much less weight than a tent and sleeping bag. Next time I get chance to spend some time in the woods, and if I think on! I'll snap a few pics of it in action!

other uses can be to collect water, making it into a kind of bathtub with a little digging, or field crafted frame, a tarp to cover kit and keep it dry / out of sight and an emergency dry sack.

anyway, just thought I'd share this and my mods with you all!

all the best PP.

IPK's are OK at best, small, heavy and no eyelets so your better off with a dedicated tarp IMHO like the 3x3m DD tarp or even the humble army basha.

Individual Protections Kits were designed to cover a a slit trench and give protection from nuclear fall out. I am told that if correctly set up a vehicle can be safely driven over it.

Its an old design, the sheet itself is flawed...they are a bit of fun but not a real prep bit of equipment IMHO. If your strapped for cash then get one until you can upgrade to something better.
