Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society

Foundation Licence Course Slide

a good resource for those interested in Ham Radio.

The very technical bits
The Royal signal ARS Antenna and Technical Library http://rsars.org.uk/rsars-members-e-lib ... l-website/
The notrious G5RV Antenna http://rsars.files.wordpress.com/2013/0 ... te-1-3.pdf

The Ham Test on line mock exams papers; 'For over 5 years, HamTests has provided a Free range of resources that will help you prepare for your Amateur Radio exam. HamTests supports all levels with practice exams & some training lessons for Foundation, Intermediate and Advance Licences in UK & now Technician, General & Amateur Extra in the USA.' http://www.hamtests.co.uk/

For many years Pete Pennington G4EGQ ran a distance learning RAE course. You can download the lessons from the links below. Although the syllabus has changed they still contain very useful material for anyone studying particularly for the Advanced amateur radio examination

Hamradioop, that's fate
Friday I am ordering a couple of those baofeng uv-5r ham radios to try them out.
I'm also ordering the suggested better Nagoya NA 701 antenna for better TX/RX ( the TX once I get the foundation licence)
I actually live .9 miles from the Chelmsford ham radio club so that's why I had a giggle at your link.
I intend to eventually get the full 10 watts the FL lets you use but the baofeng is a handy introduction so the ham forums seem to suggest.
Some would call it fate, a fewer number would call it wyrd.

Yep Hamradioop, it does indeed go where it must.
I am kind of fond of my orlag being un-snipped after having a close call a couple of years back, Thunor's hammer I wore when I fell and it is said hammer I honestly believe that let me get hurt but not my back being brokren. I never take it off now and you should have seen the scene I made when the nurse wanted me to remove it for my MRI scan

Some preps have to be in the psychological as well as the physical world.
Thanks again for the Ham Radio tips.

Frith to you and werian se Anglecynn.

I was thinking It may be worth ordering this book while I'm doing the ordering of my Baofeng UV-5Rs tomorrow or when I get back from my weekend break.
If the Ham-savvy here would be kind enough to look at the link an offer their thoughts on the pluses/minuses of reading this before, during and after the Ham course and foundation Licence is sat I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,
Wulfshead (who may not be about until Monday evening, Costa del Yarmouth here we come lol)

Edited due to Amazon having a better reviews section in their link.

Thanks Briggs,
good to know my finds are worth the finding.
Thanks for the good luck wishes and I very much forward to getting back on the air, been about 35 years since I last had a set albeit an AM CB.
My problem is I can't just do something, I have to excel. I expect some time in the near future I will have the ghost of Marconi and Edison wondering how I have not burned out the National grid

All in good time though.
Thanks again.
