8 items and no more

Post by lone wolf »

forget bear grylles, ray mears and a large machete

i know most of us have well packed BOBs ready to go but i was curious as to what 8 items would you take if you had to move right now right this second and go, what 8 pieces of kit would be most valuable to you.

Everyone has there own personal needs, i know i do, but if you could only take 8 items with you for your personal surroundings and location be it urban or rural what would they be, it could be any items that would make a situation that bit easier for you

I haven't really thought much about mine just yet but the reason i ask is that UKP has many different members in different locations around the uk and it would be nice to know what items mean the most to you for your environment and family

One of my items would be my van as that has everything ready to go....but only useful until my fuel runs out, i suppose a single person may say as much cash as they could carry or maybe one of items may be your pet

I do understand a lot would depend on the situation like floods, riots, fuel shortages etc,

any thoughts folks ?

first thing that springs to mind is a tale from an old jewish german lady who in 1939 as a 10 year old girl was told, with 5 minutes notice, she had to leave her family and travel with all the other young girls, now this was summer time and she said she was confused and a little upset with her father that he insisted she where her skiing boots, (they where a rich family) but in the 5 MONTHS! that they walked in summer dresses up through the mountains she watched many girls die at the road side, and knew that her father that she never saw again had saved her life. 60+ years later she cryed for her father and the boots that saved her life.

not sure i could be that clear headed, but i'd like to think i could.

Good story DCH

As a keen mountain climber i know the value of keeping your feet dry warm and free of blisters, gortex boots would def be one of my 8

Thanks for starting things off
