For 17 years i've worked in security and my job required me to have a number of items on me at all times. A torch was an absolute must and I eventually went for Surefire's. I found a multitool to be a big advantage and went for a Gerber and never looked back. Although i'm no longer in the Industry I still have the habit of carrying these useful items.
Today I have one or two medical issues so I pretty much always carry stuff for that unless it's a quick trip to the papershop.

Re: My EDC
Cool
EDC is something I have been giving a lot of thought to lately, so it's useful to see your list. My thoughts are that I spend a lot more time and am more vulnerable on my daily commute than nearly any other time. I have a few things in a shoulder bag that I take to work, but should certainly add a few more - while ofc avoiding the weight getting too bad.
My basics are not too different from yours - wallet, meds etc. Things I am thinking of adding to the bag (or my coat pockets):
Knife (carry legal), some paracord, mini first aid kit, handkerchief, keyfob led torch, thread n buttons, phone charger, extra cash, small screwdrivers and a light crowbar.

Re: My EDC
my EDC is my personal bag, it goes everywhere with me when I step out the door...
in here ive most things if I have to be quickly called away in an emergency or get stranded some where, etc etc... or the weather changes unexpectedly with rain...umbrella, my phone, my keys, repeat prescription, (if I have an accident it then can be seen which medication I take).. little sewing kit, a few plasters, painkillers, cough sweets, small credit card multi tool, chewing gum, small address book with contact numbers, eg, next of kin etc... tissue, (sometimes wipes and hand gel...these items I keep forgetting to replace). Pen and small note book... Purse with a small amount of money, (change)... Sun glasses in the summer.
Need to get:-a key ring torch, I did get some but put them on son`s and hubby`s keys,
need to add, maybe cereal bar or couple chocolate bars, just in case im ever out and I cant get to a shop or anywhere for food... I will be thinking and maybe add more, but I don't want this bag to have too much in, just basic for everyday use..
