Hi everyone, my first post here.
I am fascinated by this whole prepping thing, but absolutely clueless about where to start. In terms of edc, for years and without realising that is what I was doing, I have always carried a Swiss army knife, UK legal folding knife (Spyderco UKPK, atm) , a penlight torch with spare batteries, and a small first aid kit.
As I say, I'm a complete novice and any useful ideas or help you could offer would be gratefully received.
Cheers all,
Bimble.
MY EDC BAG LIST
Re: MY EDC BAG LIST
Hello and welcome to the forum. There's lots of helpful information on here from some very seasoned preppers.
We don't go in for any of this 'end of the world' stuff on UK Preppers, we are about practical prepping for plausible situations.
You're off to a good start! Think about your movements on a daily basis and then add additional items that you think you may need if a crisis were to occur when you are away from home. I would in the first instance add a bottle of water,a couple of protein/breakfast bars, a spare £20.00 note and a rain poncho to your existing kit.
Some folk have an EDC, a Get Home Bag and allsorts in-between. But I personally think one bag is enough.

Re: MY EDC BAG LIST
You OK Bimble,
Yep, before the 'End of the world' scenario is due there are a multitude of minor & everyday things that could have us reaching for the things we have wisely made into our small or large kit.
Peronaly, I do worry about a 'domino effect' where lots of small events 'may' lead to a larger problem within the community, local area and then greater area.
That said, I view the things I worry about as an inverted triangle. I/we are at the base line where only a small point may effect us and I consider the possibility of more detrimental factors widening the scenarios I need prep for as time goes by and circumstances are influenced by change beyond our control.
The small point I am seeing now is currently representative of the power cuts and the weather warnings we are being warned of.
We are a very small island consisting of 3 individual countries, I also prep for the next stage which would be shortages as seen in Greece due to an economic failure.
I am loving the legal carrier knife you gave me, it sits in my arm pocket of my flight jacket all the time and has come in very handy a few times. Mind you, if I took one of my knives out I'd be replying to your introduction from HMP Chelmo lol
My old dad, Fred, is looking like an Armageddon prepper. when Mrs Wulfshead and I were away in Yarmouth for a long weekend I found a fantastic little Army Surplus shop. I picked him up a large black gasmask bag so he can take all his meds to the doctors with him (far to many to remember). We also bought him a military style poncho to cover him and his mobility scooter.
That's us sorted now, WHB has its own tank
Good to have you on the forum.

Have a look here
http://www.redcross.org/prepare
Most local councils have advice too

Things like house fires power/utility cuts road accidents and emergency evacuations due to fire or chemical spills are far more likely than the world ending

MY EDC BAG LIST
Emergency cash; I have some of those coin cards for £1 coins and a spare £20 note x2. A flash drive may be useful depending on your day to day. A recommendation is to have digital copies of ALL your important documents on this (obviously, security protected). I've found this useful for when I've needed to have copies of passports and driving licences to pass over. Notebook and pen/ pencil, pack of tissues are also desirable...
