Hello from Manchester

Post by BugOutBoy »

Hi Guys. firstly, I am not a boy but a near 30 year old bloke. My Screen Name is the result of asking my wife for a good name and she thought it was amusing, so I rolled with it.

I am quite new to prepping, though have been interested in the concept of prepping, bushcraft, survival etc for probably around 10 years. My wife and kids are not on fully on board, but not totally against it. If I came home with thousands of £s worth of freeze dried food I would be out the door lol but I am sure I can build up some preps slowly.

I don't have a specific fear that I want to prep for, but working in Manchester and leaving work during the riots a few years back put things into perspective - if SHTF for ANY reason people will riot and loot to try and survive (or just 'coz they're morons in a gang) - avoiding built up areas is a must so having basic shelter/food/water/heat preps and improved security is my initial goal.

hopefully there will be other people who can give a noob some tips - particularly around the Manchester area.

Welcome to the forum

When it comes to s stocking food set yourself a weekly budget that you won't miss, a few extra tins soon add up , but the golden rule is eat what you buy and buy what you eat(rotation of supplies) , it's pointless buying 50 tins of spinach cos it's on special for 10p a tin when no one can stand it!
