Hi from leafy Surrey

Post by TheOldHObbit »

Just by way of introduction, I am the husband of a "Prepper to be" and just setting out on an interesting journey. I use my wife's would be prepping as an excuse to buy toys and gadgets but really enjoying the experience. I am ex service and have always enjoyed outdoor bush craft and this hobby, although taken quite seriously, allows me to get all the kit I was once banned from :D As amateurs at this prepping we have only just started out on the basics and designing our prepping around bugging down at home rather than bugging out although I have bought a few items just in case we need to leave.

Our supplies so far are: 210ltrs of bottled water. 1 trangia liquid fuel cook set. 4 Ltrs of liquid fuel. Fire steel. A fairly good stock of tinned foods. Medical supplies. Field shelter (Basha). Good quality sheath knife and machete. Water Mills bag and puritabs. 1000 yds of 7 strand para cord. 75w solar panel and 2 x 110amp leisure batteries. Multi frequency AM FM SSB radio with a Sirio gainmaster 6.5mtr antenna on a 5 mtr pole. Bug out bag if required and probably a couple of items I have forgotten about including a very effective means of defending my loved ones.

I am looking forward to chatting and learning from others who are much more prepared than we are and glad to participate in different threads on this site.

Kind Regards

Gary

Welcome to the forum Gary. Loving the emphasis on the water and the solar panel!

I think you'll find that in the UK bugging in during any sort of problem is the most realistic solution, or at least that's the opinion of most.
