I am often refferred to as the 'girl who has everything' in work. Need a pair of scissors? I got you. Forgot your wallet and can't buy lunch? I have spare microwave meals in my desk. Need a set of spanners to sort your car? In my bike's tool kit. When was the last time you used an item from your EDC or home prepping kit?
I was discussing the merits of carrying a multitool with a small knife and got some very strange looks and less than pleasant comments from some colleagues ("what kind of nutter would you bring a knife to work?). The very same day a key snapped off in a locked cabinet that my coworkers needed to get into urgently and my multitool's pliers came in very handy to pry it out, I also managed to attach the broken part of the key to the knife and turn the lock. so what kind of nutter brings a knife to work? The kind that isn't defeated by a broken key
I suppose the point of this thread is to identify the items that came in handy in those everyday situations that pop up that are not necessarily end of the world. Things that you we're glad you have on you when a situation arose that you might not have carried if you were not "prepping"

Yesterday at work , mobile engineer, tweezers to pull out brass splinter, first aid kit to dress it , gloves that I should have worn in the first place were in the wash so used my ones from my bag , and shovel to bury the body of the last git on-site that chomped the end of the service valve with what looked like a machete.

Re: The last time you used your EDC?
Tweezers (on SAK) yesterday, I used the SAK blade and a plaster (I keep some in my wallet) last week. I used to use my SAK pretty much every day for one thing or another but my lifestyle is a lot easier these days. I also lent my power bank (not immediate EDC but if I'm more than a walk from home I have one on me) to charge a phone last week.
I used to be the oddball who had pockets full of everything and extra scran etc. Most the guys I worked with were grateful for the stuff I had and it became a bit of a joke that if they couldn't get stuff through the proper channels they came to me. I even got offered a fiver for a cheapy (10p at the time) packet of noodles, I just gave them to the boy.

The little spring that returns the latch to keep my car stereo face on snapped yesterday, so I used the mini Gorilla tape roll to keep it in place. Also tighten up the bolts on my pressure cooker yesterday using the Gerber Dime in my pocket as they were lose, before use yesterday.
Re: The last time you used your EDC?
To be honest I don't carry much but what I do tends to be used fairly regularly . I carry a lighter and a small pair of pliers which get used quite often , on my key ring is a P.38 tin opener which gets a surprising amount of use. The most used thing is my Swiss Army knife , a spartan , which is used almost daily. Indeed when I'm strimming I find it easier to leave the screwdriver blade of the knife open to allow me to quickly open the strimmer head to allow more line out. For anyone interested its a stihl with a bump feed but I've never got it to work properly and when it did it seems to waste the line.

I often use my stuff, well the torch is used every day, but the other stuff comes in handy too, I have mates who smoke so my lighter is often used, the paracord comes out for something or other pretty much weekly, last time my sons belt broke and my little multitool is often fixing something, a video camera at a wedding is thet last thing that comes to mind.
Ok it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't have these bits and bobs, but it's easier if I do have them.

Re: The last time you used your EDC?
I get home about five, so any time between then and when I left before seven.
Haven't used the FAK for ages or the "Jesus Saves" (massive trauma dressing) ever..... Not that I'm upset about that.
I work in a place where we all need knives so I don't get "what kind of nutter would you bring a knife to work?"..... Also they've now stopped asking if its sharp
So, over all. I use parts of my EDC daily but some items never or rarely, that doesn't make them less valid though
Dark: I hope you tried not to look too smug
Mind you, they'll probably of forgotten all about it next time MT's and knives come up

I didn't even consider a torch, in each of my dog walking jackets I've got one of the cheap Cree's, they're getting used nightly at the moment for the beasties evening walk. They're another one that I consider as extended EDC, I've not always got a jacket on and I've got another couple of 'proper' EDC torches that live in my breeks pockets.

Two days ago - used lighter to heat my van key, so I could actually get into my van!
Today - knife on my mini SAK to cut through a wrap strap
Every night - my torch in my coat to walk the dogs!
Tonight, the bottle opener on my keyring pry tool, so I could have a beer.

On the Internet, no one knows you are a dog.
