My kit so far

Post by 11thhourdad »

I don't know how far I want to take my prepping or what I'm prepping for - probably more local, short term disruption than SHTF but you never know. I don't know if I will ever get to the point of bugging out but I want to have the option should it become necessary. So at the moment I'm picking up things as I see them.

So I started to take an inventory of what I have so far.

Condor Convoy rucksack - I brought this for hiking as it's only 22L but it has become my substitute GHB. It's a smaller version of the Condor 3 day assault pack 50L which I'm looking at for my possible BOB

2.5L water bladder for the above bag - fits the assault pack as well

1L aluminium water bottle

Helikon Defender torch

Light my Fire army firesteel

Pot of waterproof matches

Hand Sanitiser

Tin of vaseline

SAK Huntsman

Gerber Paraframe 2 - impulse amazon black friday purchase - not UK legal

Grizzly Bushcraft Pocket Buddy Knife - brought on recommendations from others - UK legal

Bracken Extreme 3 in 1 Jacket - lovely breathable and waterproof jacket with added fleece

Craghopper Kiwi Classic Trousers - lots of pockets and comfortable for hiking

Spray Waterproof Trousers

Baselayer wicking shirts

Scarpa Cyclone Gore-tex boots - brought for hiking

Merino wool hiking socks

50ft paracord - I need more

Pro force maxi FAK - my wife is a first aider at work

Tea Tree Oil - I read it has some good uses

Polymath Survival Tin - brought this as a starting point for when I build my own

True Utility NanoLite - this might go in a survival tin eventually

Ear plugs

I have also got into the habit of carrying the following for my EDC

True Utility ShackleSet

True Utility Cashstash

Tru Utility Firestash

True Utility Compact Microlite

True Utility ClipTool

BCB Credit Card Tool

I have read and own the following books

SAS Survival Guide Handbook - Lofty Wiseman

Bushcraft 101 - Dave Canterbury

How to Survive the End of the World as we know it - James Rawles

Countdown to Preparedness - Jim Cobb

Preparedness and Survival - Vitaly Pedchenko

Build the perfect BOB - Creek Stewart

I'd like to start food prepping but space is an issue. I might look at getting some shelving for the shed.

My kit is lacking in quite a few areas as well but I'm still researching a lot of cooking and water purification options at the moment. I also can't make my mind up between tent and tarp. I need to get a fire kit together as well - looking at the Polymath fire kit refill.

I recently missed the chance to book a Bushcraft Essentials course with Paul Kirtley so I'll have to wait for the next one. Need to find a first aid course as well.

So still a long way to go. Updates to follow.

Thanks for reading. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

Regards
