Supermarket reductions bargains
Supermarket reductions bargains
So, this evening I purchased £78 of meat and fish from Waitrose for £30. I was pleased as punch with that. Always worth a speculative trip of an evening to your major supermarket of choice.

Probably the most visited area in the supermarkets for me.

Yeah, don't fancy dehydrating smoked haddock though. Bleurgh.pseudonym wrote:Probably the most visited area in the supermarkets for me.

I know a large supermarket is now having items with no best before date that did have before.

I once bought ten kilos of the really high quality basmati rice for a fiver, no idea why it was reduced, didn't appear to have a date on it and the bag wasn't damaged, guessing it was the last one and the packaging design had changed.
I'm always rummaging in the reduced section, I buy most of my meat from a local wholesaler (for about half what it costs in the supermarket) in bulk and freeze it, but that's everyday stuff, I keep a look out for things that are cheap that I can cook for a change, stuff like lamb shanks and interesting things that are more expensive or that I didn't think of buying.
