storing bow saw blades- rust free

Post by hedgerowpete »

Many years ago i brought a few spare 600mm bow saw blades. dropped them into a plastic pipe and added two ends. six million years later got one out today to replace an old blade but they have not lasted very well.

The oil and brown paper i used as a rust proof wrapper did not work as well as i wanted.

looking for new ideas to rust proof store a bow saw blades

any suggestions?

Paint them and hang them up so the air can get to them.

Your plastic pipe probably aggravated the problem.

I give the 'working' blade a wipe over with Vaseline if I'm not planning on using it for a while

I have blades 12 years old, hung in the workshop, with next to no rust.
