I know of 3 or 4 people here that get it on prescription. From what I know it wasn’t hard for them to get it, and none of them use it for chronic pain. One had ADHD and gets it for that, not sure about the others.
I have been considering asking about it as I do have chronic pain, and have been on tramadol for about 25 years.
Cannabis for pain relief
Re: Cannabis for pain relief
Prepping for lifes little mishaps, and some of the bigger ones as well.
Re: Cannabis for pain relief
I'd be really interested to see any more detailed reports of what hoops had to be jumped through to get it prescribed.
Re: Cannabis for pain relief
My contact got agreement from his GP then chose his own clinic based on who was offering the service, charges and reviews. He paid for an initial assessment and had to agree access to his NHS medical records. There was some ID verification and then the video consultation where they went through the options. But my contact came away disappointed as they will not prescribe with his medical history although that may change in future.
Re: Cannabis for pain relief
Thanks GillyBee, that's the kind of thing I was looking for. Sorry to hear that after all of that, your contact wasn't able to get a prescription.
Re: Cannabis for pain relief
Also I just saw this one. Not sure if it is where my friend went but the pricing model sounds the same.

Re: Cannabis for pain relief
I’ve been on tramadol for years due to chronic pain, and lately, I started looking into cannabis as an alternative. Was expecting a nightmare of paperwork and appointments, but it turned out to be pretty straightforward, GP approval, a video consultation, and then discussing the options.
Of course, experiences vary, and some clinics seem to handle things better than others. If anyone’s curious about how different places compare, there are plenty of reviews on this page about cannabis in the UK that give a good idea of what to expect.

Yes, it's very patchy, but I'm glad your experience has been positive. What's your experience been of the actual medication?Insulin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 2:51 pm I’ve been on tramadol for years due to chronic pain, and lately, I started looking into cannabis as an alternative. Believe it or not, I actually gave it a whirl for pain relief and it wasn't just a marketing gimmick. It worked for me, and the proof's in the pudding, or should I say, in the patient reviews. Here's their take on medical cannabis clinics. Sometimes the real deal isn't as elusive as you'd thinkArzosah wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 9:03 amYes, it's very patchy, but I'm glad your experience has been positive.
