Solid fuel price rises

Post by British Red »

I thought this deserved a new thread - the price rises I was warned about by our coal man have materialized. Two years ago, smokeless fuel was £300 per tonne

The price yesterday (Friday 6/5/21) - £410 per tonne

The price today (Saturday 7/5/21) - £500 per tonne

I had a long chat with the delivery guy who got friendly last time after he realised we knew some of the same bearded "groups" warned me that his boss anticipates another rise in Autumn and a third come Winter.

Sounds like coal prices may well double from the £300 baseline

Thanks for standing in as a moderator… sometimes we need to chill out from shite and share cat photos.

You started a thread - same topic- 14 April. Sorry if we got cat pics in. Life is serious at the moment, but we need a chill pill sometimes.

That thread was about a possible rise - I thought an actual rise was worth reporting - feel free to merge them if its better for you

Thought it was just me jansman theres a window open all year round in mine didn't know if it was a Yorkshire thing or what . I remember back to being a kid and no matter what the weather my gran had a window open ... Shirley my purre black furball cat hides under the pillow on the bed showing her disgust at the air flow coming in 😂

Same here, coal fires all my life and you need a window open or you get black mould.

My wife is a fresh air fan. We have no gas central heating, and no mould. Most of our neighbours do it appears, but they never open windows!

I don't need to open windows, the drafts are quite sufficient for ventilation, thank you!
