Almost certainly illegal to shoot at it, as you are effectively shooting up into the air. But it must have been as satisfying as hell. Maybe only better if you had brought it down on your own property.jansman wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 12:03 pmWe have had a spate of drones hovering over the gardens lately. And if you go silent Jenny, we'll have to have a dig under Jansman's compost heaps just in case

I am allowed to discharge an air gun provided its more than 50’ of the centre of the highway, and neighbours are safe. Re: Security for your fuel stores
That's the "problem" with wood , the amount of space it takes up sat there drying for a year o two. I have a couple of log stores on the front garden so they would be easy to rob. The irony there is that I've deliberately made it harder to just walk around to the back of the house ( sometime ago I had two eastern european women do that to try and steal scrap) which means it's less work to take wood out of the van and onto the store. I too haven't heard of fuel thefts from vehicles although cutting off the cats is one I've heard or read about more frequently.
Re: Security for your fuel stores
I think a lot of vehicles were "hardened" against fuel theft after the fuel crisis of 2001. Our old Astra was not one of them and we suffered 2 doses of cut fuel line, Little **** filled his jerry can and leaft the rest to flood the car parking area with petrol. Our neoghbour got the same treatment on Bonfire Night which the local fire brigade simply loved
Household tanks are another matter entirely and I can only agree with those of you with more experience about sheds, alarms etc.

In many ways the bulk is an advantage 8n my mind. To shift our log store would require two articulated lorries, a telehandler and a bank holiday weekend
On a serious note even with an estate car you couldn't steal that much wood and it takes far longer to load than pumping out a tank. Bulk propane is probably the hardest to steal - you would need very specialised equipment ( although it can be fone, I've seen our tank pumped out when swapping it for a new one). Propane cylinders are probably the easiest to steal though - and often left, unsecured, in plain sight
