£14 for a camping stove using butane gas. Is this a worthwhile offer or not, people-with-more-experience?
I've used this site before and they're kosher so I've no problems with that.
Is this camping stove a good offer?
Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
I would say it`s a good deal, but thanks too for the link, haven`t seen that site before.
Was looking at the humane rat trap...wonder what folks do with the rats when they catch them?

Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
Try Asda, Morrisons etc as this time of year they have them in alongside all the camping gear they sell for the festivals etc.
My only concern would be how long do the cannisters last and how easy is it to get replacement ones when it not camping season?
Good price on WW's link.

Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
I bought half a dozen a couple of years ago. I visited the importer and was told that there are about a dozen factories all producing these with the same basic design but the safety features vary. Some have flame out gas cut-offs, some have an interlink which prevents opening the gas compartment whilst alight and so on. Have a look at what is available and get the special features explained. There is also a very expensive one made in stainless steel for yachties as the common ones are prone to rusting away if not cleaned and maintained especially in a marine environment.
They are simple and quick to operate and are ideal for car camping. Open, turn over top, push lever, click and away.
Less obvious is their use in the conventional kitchen when another burner is needed, say Christmas dinner, or at the bar-be-que. Really useful and worth buying just for that.
I bought mine for gifts for the family for use when the power goes off and a cup of tea is needed.
Replacement cylinders can be expensive though. Macro do them for about a pound each in packs of four. I appreciate though that you need a Macro card to get in (a well worth prep in its own right).
Edited to add:
This one looks to be good. Just what I would go for if I did not own one already, Stainless and with all the safety features, not too expensive. (when I looked a couple of years ago the stainless ones were over a hundred pounds before VAT!)

Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
I got this stove very simple and easy just like a single burner on a gas hob. The gas cans are available anywhere from wilkosons to camping store, best place is at Saturday or Sunday markets sold year round at very good prices. There not brilliant on gas compared to ones that screw underneath the burner that you can buy, but they have ability where the seals themselfs when you take them out stove unlike the other type I mentioned. I got one at home for emeregencys so if power goes I can use this. Hope this helps
Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
Thank you everyone . I still have a few hours to think about it (unless they've sold out!).
Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
Tried one and it worked well apart from one major flaw. They don't work when it's cold! So out came the hexi...
Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
I have a Kelly Kettle with all the extras. Requested it from the wife last Christmas. All these gas stoves are great but you will eventually run out of fuel after TSHTF.
A Kelly Kettle uses twigs and other small combustables so you aren't going to run out of fuel. It boils water and you can cook on it. I would suggest lining the inside with tin foil to keep it clean and in good nick.
They cost about £30-£40 but you never need to buy fuel for them.
Be lucky

Re: Is this camping stove a good offer?
I went for the type that use the same bottles as the calor fires to save on storing different types of botttles of gas. A 13kg bottle of calor will last you months. As Bladerunner says after tshtf you will run out of fuel eventually, but in shorter term scenarios (which is the much more likely event) camping gas stoves are ideal.
