Time to eat through some of my preps this week until the car is back

Goulash and rice tonight....
7 days, 1 ignition switch, 1 starter motor and £460 lighter I am mobile again.

MRE pouches worked well for the duration, time to restock.
Ouch what was the only bit they didn't change the starter relay? Locate it and get one off eBay ready ;) ;)

Just ordered 4 half Sovereigns, alongside 1/10th ounce Britannia's probably the only fractional coin I can afford at the moment.

Even the dealers are having delays:

"Due to exceptionally high demand at this time, the dispatching of goods will be delayed by 2 working days."

This from a Company that dispatches same day....
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I hope it's just supply and demand, their preowned coins and bars have seen an increase due to people cashing in on the highs

1/20th is the smallest I can find:

https://atkinsonsbullion.com/gold/gold- ... acets=1288

Bars go down to 1 gram.

https://atkinsonsbullion.com/gold/gold- ... -gold-bars

I wont go smaller than:

1/10th ounce Britannias.

https://atkinsonsbullion.com/gold/gold- ... acets=1281

too fiddly any smaller

Two of those coins are 1g.

It's a dilemma, because they are affordable, and more useful for small trades, eg buying some food in teotwawki, but they cost twice as much per gram as buying a gold sovereign, which is about 4g.

The other thing to watch is the purity. They usually tell you how much actual weight of pure gold it is, eg 7.98g sovereign, containing 7.322 g pure gold.

Cheapest there is 1g Chinese Panda, 2024, £99.50, 24 ct, 999.0 fineness. This is considered pure gold. It is 99.9% pure. It is marked Au 999. Au is the chemical symbol for gold.

There is also an Armenian Noah's Arc 1g coin on that website that's even purer, at 999.9 fine, but is still considered 24 ct.

NB. There are also 1/20th oz Chinese Pandas, which are 1.55 g 999 fine.
