What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
We really like these as they have a motion sensor and 2 light levels which is nice if you are trying to avoid blinding yourself (or others) They go a long time between charges too.

Thanks for that, GillyBee. Interesting alternative.

But you know you need more
I've had one of my Anker power banks spit it's dummy out and not work found a online guide and revived it to give power out. next job is to fully flatten it and hope the little built in battery regulator brain realises it's wrong and let's it charge properly...
Going to take a while it's a big one 26800mah it could take some time

I've been dehydrating apple slices to make healthy snacks in winter.
We have 2 apple trees and more than we can eat.
Does anyone have any tried & tested suggestions for long term apple storage?

For the past few years we have had all of our neighbour's apple tree crop. Sadly no more as the apple tree has been removed by the new neighbour.
Our favourites were apple jelly and apple butter from the jelly leftovers. Apple rings were good but eaten far too quickly. I also water bathed canned apple puree in Kilner jars for use in crumbles.
I also found that the apples in best condition would keep in excess of a month in the kithen if I handled them carefully and checked them regularly to remove any showing any damage.I would have made apple chutney but my family don't like it. I did make chilli relish by adding chopped chillies and onion to an apple jelly base. (I have seen recipes that do this with some herbs.)
We also ate a lot of Dorset Apple Cake but that is no good for storage

As a child we used to go to a pick your own place in Malvern and bring home lots of apples. We used to wrap them in newspaper and keep them in a cool room where they lasted ages. No preserving apples for me, but I did make 14 apple crumbles of various sizes today after harvesting the apple trees. A large one for tea, 4 for my dad's freezer, 1 to youngest daughter, 2 to my son and the rest are in the freezer until they can be collected by the other children or will be eaten by husband. My husband was tipped 1 1/2 sacks of carrots at his latest job, unusual but gratefully received. I have made carrot and coriander soup but may have overdone the chilli as it has a bit of a kick. We will keep some of the carrots, give some to work colleagues and will donate the rest to a local community shop. Such a lovely day spent cooking and sharing the harvest.
Growing old disgracefully!

Always good to have to correct gear when on or in water
As most of you will know from my posts I swim
Every day ... love being in the water
See it all though
Today a woman who seemed new came in
Swim cap designer goggles thermal swim costume
Must have cost her a fortune
Jumped in 6foot end . Couldn't swim
Drown alarm ...all out of pool ...
Rescue her
Back in ...
All the gear and no idea
At least your kids will know Andy
You dont just buy it and show it off
