Re. Hunting with dogs- sadly hare coursing is a bit of an issue around here and the guys that do it are pretty scary, not to be confronted, it's just a 999 call to the police. Does give a bit of a sobering insight into what the world might be like when the supermarkets are empty.......

I know the sort you mention and wouldn’t be surprised if they were armed as well so could pretty much corner the market so to speak.
A customer of mine has a terrier that is always on the lookout for rabbits and has caught a number . Getting her to drop the rabbit is another thing and when she finally does it’s not particularly appealing. The dog has bitten my customer when she tried to take the rabbit.
I fear for the majority it’s going to be squirrels at best , maybe rats and sparrows , the black market or go without should this situation ever arise .

I fear that you are absolutely right Grenfell. Simple livestock might work better assuming you can feed & protect them. Eating guinea pigs might suddenly become acceptable.

My food stocks are a mix of regular tinned and packet goods, and MREs and MRE components. Everything I have and its storage location is recorded for quick reference. It’s a guess at best but I think I have 8-12 months of regular 3 meals per day + snacks and another 2-3 months of more random meals of foods you wouldn’t normally put together. I definitely need more veg in my stock.
Now when it comes to hunting I do have the equipment and ability to hunt rabbits or smaller animals, this isn’t part of my planning though for all the reasons others have already mentioned. The only exception to this that I think may be possible is pigeons and other larger birds that visit the garden, these could become dog food.
Prep for the fun of it, survive to stick two fingers up to whatever tried to kill you!
