If it hit the Broch, how would folk know?
Nuclear War

Do we Prep for it? Do you?Kiwififer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 6:57 pm You can’t prep for it. Too small an island, too many targets and would you really want to survive it? It’s been talked about before on here and the universal pov is to crack open the decent whisky and watch the missile come in as there’s not much you can do.
Can we? Can't we? Should we try?
We most of us prep for an undefined set of scenarios. Prepping to be at , or near ground zero is simply out of scope for most of us.
Limited Nuclear war, or Nuclear war where the UK is mostly unscathed is one scenario where civilisation goes to hell in a handcart, but some of us get some thinking time. Best we can hope for?
Personally, I came to prepping as a direct consequence of World politics in 2016. I thought then that we were on the brink. I'm rather glad I was wrong. I like being wrong about some things

But heck. I have a bad feeling about the next four years.
Stay sane and Carry on Prepping.
Graceful Degradation! Prepping's objective summed up in two words. Turning Disaster into Mild Inconvenience by the power of fore-thought

Yeah I can see the castle from my window which is the natural aiming point for Edinburgh. As one of the targets will be places of government, I don’t expect to have any chance as it will be hit fairly early on.
In fact there was a leaked report in the papers last month I think it was that said in a limited strike, Edinburgh was one of places chosen as it would also take out Rosyth dockyard (where the aircraft carriers were built). So I’m screwed.
The thing is, if it’s a limited strike, who stops the scale of the retaliation? Would the U.K. launch back against Moscow if I was obliterated? If not, what’s the point of deterrence?
