its illegal to re release grey squirrels
Have to kill them humanely apparently hit them on the head with a shovel ... among other things...
Anyone had any experience of hitting our destructive furry little friends on the head ?? ... I suppose if the shtf and I had to be self sufficient then it'd be made into a pair of gloves but so far I havent needed to do that
skin them and place in freezer until you have a couple then:
Squirrel, bacon, chorizo, onion, courgette, red pepper, chicken stock, garlic, thyme, marjoram, salt, pepper. + polenta.
Slow simmered the squirrel saddle/back legs with some fresh thyme, then de-boned. Strained the stock, added bone free meat. Separately browned off chunked bacon and sausage, then used the oil released to wilt onion (ring cut) and pepper (strip cut), then added these and other ingredients back into the squirrel pot. Simmered for about an hour, then added in three handfuls of polenta to thicken.
HTH
I can't have it because it may contain nuts...
I'll get my coat......
Brilliant
It actually sounds delicious ..
As long as your not allergic to nuts
Apparently they do make good food likewise wood pigeon but I'm not a fan
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong
Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

If eating squirrel remember to remove the musk glands or the meat gets tainted.
I'm sat here crying laughing at the knowledge of how to prepare squirrel stew after the knowledge of doing them in
Waiting for pest control and got the image of me stirring a big pot gleefully chopping up various herbs and veg and muttering remove the glands

Jackery solar panel connectors, extension cables and 3x200watt collapsible solar panels on their way.
After making an error in not getting proprietary panels I have four redundant panels taking up space
pseudonym, can I ask you what you mean by that second sentence, please? What was the error? Why was non-proprietary a mistake?
My solar generator can only take in a certain amount of amps, the panels exceed this amount, I should of checked and bought the correct ones. Totally my fault.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Thanks for that!
It's voc you need to watch *voltage open circuit *
The maximum voltage that a panel puts out which can damage the mppt charge unit ..
It's fairly common to over watt a charger by an amount as very rare do we get full wattage from a panel ..
Yorkshire Andy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:56 amThe jackery look to take a much lower voltage but they don't make it clear
That looks deliberate, to be honest, somebody as ignorant as me has absolutely no chance unless recommended by somebody like you, this is what you buy, this is how you connect it. I don't have a grasp of the basics, and when I try to learn, its as if my head's made of bubbles - it just doesn't stay with me
