Tweaks to heating. No night heat unless extreme cold. 18 deg all day on thermostat = around 20-20.5 in my room. If I get a bit hot, I turn TRV down, not thermostat. If I'm a bit cold, I put the Dimplex electric radiator on, with a countdown on the Tapo plug (energy monitor), usually 40 minutes. It should run for about 7 minutes twice in that time. Costs about 6.5p. So basically, I'm trying to aviod messing with the thermostat. Target is 90% of what it was when I had lodgers. Target varies with average temperature. Today is 42kWh. So far I've only gone significantly over on one day, and then I changed various settings to reduce use, eg bathroom TRV low apart from when I have a shower.
Tried my new 'winter' duvet last night. Was too hot at 2am, so reverted to the one I've been using since around early October. The hot one is only Tog 4.5. Current one is Tog 3, and is unusual because the insulation is cotton. I think it regulates heat better. I'm prone to sleeping hot, but getting cold feet. I get neither with this.

IHD started beeping at the slightest movement. I keep it on my bed, to keep track of energy use during the day, mainly gas at the moment. Only guaranteed for a year, and you have to buy your own replacement. Got it £10 off, so was £39.99. Supposedly easy to connect and get running.
Yesterday was mild, but it can still eat up a lot of gas. So I turned C/H off mid morning, and just used my Dimplex in my bedroom. Think it saved me a bit of money. It used 2.3 kWh over about 11 hours. I probably used over 1.0 cooking my Aldi Salmon Wellingon in the oven, so 2.3 for most of a day is pretty good.

Got it charged it slung it i the boot past 2 days its started a 3l v6 petrol Triumph stag which needed a bloody long cranking as it was damp .. no issue..
And tonight factory carpark next door guy with bonnet up failed to jump off a co workers car. 2.0l diesel vw passat spun it over with zero issues a definite recommendation from me .. I've had a few cheaper units but this kicks the backside out of the others

It's a portable jump pack / power bank let's you start a car without needing another car if you come back to find a flat battery clip it on to the battery and turn the keydiamond lil wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 6:55 am Not a clue what yur talking about Andy, but we once had a 3L Triumph Stag and it was awesome!

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Bought my husband a Noco a few years ago for Christmas and it has been a godsend at times. Not for us, but for his works vehicle and other peoples vehicles and they are so small compared to the huge thing he used to have which failed after 18 months. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them.
Growing old disgracefully!
