Hello from Sethur

Post by sethur »

Hi

I'm a public servant with a side-line in writing for magazines. I have read the warning to journalists but I don't think it fits me, I'll explain why.

I'm thinking of creating a magazine, probably on-line only, FOR preppers that looks at the current state of play regarding various scenarios. It would keep readers up to date on the latest state of play in such things as:

Economic collapse (including hyperinflation, electricty shortages, food prices etc)
Environmental tipping-points (glacial melt, drought, ice-cap depletion)
Severe terrorism, including state-sponsored nuclear attack
The end of oil
Pandemic Disease
Geological events (supervolcano, earthquake)

This is not an exhaustive list, but the magazine would NOT cover "signs and portents" from religious texts - everyone has the right to their faith, but most faiths with an apocalyptic scenario have their own publications.

The main focus of the magazine will be WHEN. Each threat to our modern, intricate world will be regularly assessed as to how soon things might get irretrievably so bad that it's time to "bug out".

A particular specialty would be "slow apocalypse" - the situation where the slide into disaster seems so slow that it is easy to miss. This could well be true right now of both environmental pollution and economic collapse.

Let me know what you think!

What is your motivatin behind this?

My personal feeling is that there are plenty of on-line resources/websites/blogs/forums that most of us subscribe to ( we all like different ones I'm sure) so I wouldn't need to subscribe to another one.

I'm assuming it would require a payment or are you hoping on revenue from adverts?

All I can say is good luck and echo tigs question - what is your background in prepping?

I'm ok with any prepper participating in the forum, and I don't think that what you've said so far would automatically exclude you - but you haven't actually said that you yourself are a prepper.

So welcome if you are - do share!
