Dramatic temperature change for my food storage.

Post by Arakis »

Hi guys
I've got a dilema about my food storage.
I dont have any basement at house, so i stor my food just in storage on ground floor and fortunately in summer I had a very cool temperature at home.
but now, when winter is coming, we are going to start using heating.
So I think to move all my food storage (grains, tinned food, sone skimmed milk etc) to the loft, where the temperature will be much much cooler at winter.
So the question is
Will that dramatic temperature changes affect on the food and its shelf life ?
Taking in account that I will move it back down to ground floor storage in the spring as in summer my loft becomes like sauna.
Its not insulated, so inner loft temerature very depends on outter weather.

what you have to remember heat rises , even in winter a loft can have a massive change in temps you would be better off with a secure garage
