Hi all
Just heard about Mylar bags whilst watching a natgeo preppers rerun.
Could somebody in the know please tell me
1. How long food is guaranteed to stay good for
2. What foods can/should be stored
Failing that, if anybody knows of a website which is good for a newbie, I would appreciate that also/instead.
I realise that there are a lot of threads involving this subject, just hoping somebody can give me the short version for idiots!
Thanks in advance

If you google storing food in Mylar bags you will get a range of information.
1/ although I don't know for sure as I haven't stored food this long, I have picked up somewhere the length of 10years, but don't quote me on that.
2/ any dried food- rice, pasta, flour, baking powder, milk powder etc etc etc. with oxygen absorbers. You can store sugar (for me it keeps the damp out) but without oxygen absorbers.
Have a mooch on the forum as there has been many dicussions in the past.

about 10 years but try to use it before that, don't put oxygen absorbers with sugar as the sugar will set like concrete, make sure you have a good thick seal on it also, dont splash out on fancy mylar bag sealers just use an iron, with the steam turned off though
