Been prepping very tiny scale for years now. A lot are just plans in my head.
Started when I bought a SAS Survival guide as a teenager in a big camping outlet in Rochester. When 9/11 happened, I went out and bought some educational bits for my, then, babies.
Recently fled my abusive husband so bits like rope etc are a couple of hundred miles away (grabbed the main camping stuff though) but have started gathering bits again. Got my flint and steel in the post this morning.
40 this year and currently in a rented flat with 3 kids (2 def autistic) so not in the most ideal situation. I want to improve that if I can.
I believe that we are now so reliant on electricity and oil that if something went wrong, society would fall about very rapidly. Also, community in this country is almost non-existent now as we lead ever more isolated lives. Another dangerous aspect.
Happy New Year,
Schizoidgal

Re: Hi, new prepper in Kent.
Thanks guys.
I've had a private message and I can't reply to you yet essgee23 as the system won't let me as I haven't participated enough.
I've spent over 20 years with my husband and I am starting to remember who I am.
I was a Venture Scout (was one of the girls who campaigned about not being in Scouts as Guides was pansy-ish) and I was a British Red Cross cadet. A bit thick around the middle now but slowly getting control as I was force-fed a bit (holding food in front of face until you submitted) and he sulked if I didn't eat the things he bought. Means I have reflux and a hernia now too.
Trying to show my kids that there is a world of adventure out there. Want to learn archery properly as I have loved my attempts (can shoot pretty far too), would love how to snare and skin a rabbit, and get into some combats again! Remembered that my wlaking boots were left behind.
Had chickens, made wine and, tried a little bit of self-sufficiency whilst up in the West Midlands for the couple of years we were there. Hb didn't really go for the green thing though and only cared about gathering DVDs which will be TOTALLY redundant if we had no power!
Need a bigger place with a pantry or shed and I can start maturing my plans.
