Today I did my first prep. I deliberately bought extra rice and pasta when I went shopping.
I know it's not much but at least I have started. Over the next few months I intend to get my stockpile up and get the other essentials we need for the coming economic collapse.
It feels really good to start.
Lots of love Dave (sscotdave)
First prep today
Re: First prep today
I don't know if we are going to have a total economic collapse, but having the extra foods in is a good thing in case things get tricky work / money / weather wise.
Well done

If you're on a budget, i've seen this site being mentioned a few times and i've actually just bought from it. Cheap food and it justified the £5.25 shipping!

Re: First prep today
Well done Dave,
That's the way to do it, just pick up a little extra whenever you can. You'll be amazed how quickly your emergency stocks grow in just a few months.
Your reserves will give you a feeling of reassurance; of knowing that if something were to happen you'll be able to face it and cope with it.
Another very simple prep you can make is to fill a few containers with water and store them where they will not freeze.
Good luck, Panther.

Re: First prep today
Its good you have started.
One word of advice though. Its easy to get caught up with the extreme end of prepping and plan for a nuclear fallout bunker etc. Dont bother with extremes. It is unlikely there will be total collapse, nuclear war, epedemic etc.
Prep for more mundane things:-
Food - Have a food backup, extra rice, soup, tinned fish, whatever.
Water - If water cuts off do you have backup?
Light - Imagine your electricity goes down, what can you do? Have a plan.
Heating - If your heating packs up what will you do? Have backup.
Car - If you breakdown in a remote area in snow are you prepared?
These are the things in life you need to prep for. Once you have prepped for these then feel free to prep for more situations, if you believe that to be necessary.
Do not spend loads of money on items you will never need in reality!!

Yep, the mundane things - for instance, a couple of years ago, I had two power cuts in this house, a month after I'd moved here, and after the first one (daytime) I put a candle and a box of matches out on each floor. So when the next power cut happened, at 11pm at night, I was prepared - thats sometimes all it takes!
