REQ: Vehicle FAK Bag Recommendations

Post by CardiffGuy »

Morning Folks,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a small bag for a vehicle FAK which preferably has pockets/sections inside inside it.

The reason I ask is on the way home from dropping Mrs C.G. to work this morning, I witnessed a small RTC which required me to use the FAK in our car in order to provide minor medical aid to one of the drivers(Thats one good deed done today), however our FAK is one of those cheap ones in a thin flimsy small box that got given to us when we got the car last year and subsequently cracked when it slipped on the floor.
-----
On a side note also, I could not stress the need for taking a first aid course, even a basic one as some other people that stopped quickly were a bit like headless chickens panicing and didn't know what to do.

Many Thanks

C.G.

hey CG to start with - very well done you, pat on back deserved :D

i picked up a camping wash bag from a shop in the sales, is large enough for a good size kit, yet small enough to go in glove box (had to remove all CDs though which wasnt really a prob)

it has compartments and mesh areas so can see everything and zips so it all stays in place - and is washable if gets a bit grubby from use

not sure if thats what you need but thats what i have :)

Thanks both for the replies - much appreciated.

12mp82 - That's probably ideal for fitting in the glove box.

CG well done. not many people do stop.

the bag suggested is a very good bag. bit big for the glove box but still and excellent choice and what i carry in the landrover.

Life systems do a very pouch that they sell empty

this is the kitted on but it gives you an idea of size and layout. i carry one of these in my bag.

Good for you stopping :) Just a recommendation to any reading this - make sure you have several dressings in your kit. I administered very basic first aid to someone who'd fallen over and mashed up thier hand and as it was the first time I'd had to deal with anything involving someone other than my own family, since doing my first aid course, the adrenalin was rushing and I dropped the first dressing on the ground! Thankfully I had a spare in my bag!

As I said on another post I pack my FAK depending on where they are. The one I have in my car has more large wound dressings and bandages than the simple one I carry in my handbag. My rucksac one has blister plasters and antihsitmine cream in it but I wouldn't bother with those in my car FAK.
