Post by Rusty337 »

Hey guys I've just ordered a set of hyatt police handcuff on ebay. Has anyone else done this ? I think they would come in really handy :)

I have a set that I keep, with key ever since I left the police. No issues with having them at all but it's where the liability lies if you do use them without the correct training etc.

As for in a SHTF scenario I guess that they may have their uses. I just have mine as it seems wrong not to after having them on my side whilst in the force.

Baw-chica-wa-wa!

But wouldn't it be more space saving and lighter to carry some tough cable ties? They have more uses and are just as effective at restraining a person.

They're not nearly as good as handcuffs but much lighter and more uses, got a few in my bag.

I'm trying to imagine scenarios where I would use them, and cannot justify the expense, cable ties, rope, wire, would do the same job, in the WROL scenarios we dont get into much here, I'm not sure I'd want to keep anyone captive, but in the here and now spare cash ( if there is such a thing) is better spent on something else methinks.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I think I'd go down the cable ties route long before I'd consider carrying handcuffs; weight/cost/single usage/ explaining to the local finest why you need a pair of handcuffs etc ....

I'd go for the cable ties too. And if you think someone is a bit of a Houdini, there's ways and means!

Your profile says you're 24. How long we're you a police officer? Is it ok to have handcuffs as a civilian? I thought human rights may come into play?
