Couponing?
Couponing?
Just watched some mad American show about folk who get like $600 shops for 10. Can this be done in the UK and if so,does anyone use this in their preps?
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week./

Re: Couponing?
my partners tried with a few online coupon sites, also groups on facebook but its nothing like they can do in usa, took 4 hours of shopping one day to save £5.00 now dont get me wrong a fiver is a fiver, but i could have left some pork chops behind and done the shopping in 30 mins
Re: Couponing?
It is an American thing. Full stop. Here we do BOGOF. Something Aldi and Lidl did not get when they came here. Cultural differences those.

Don't forget "Yellow Labelling" (handy if you have a decent sized freezer) and, my person favorate, "Seasonals"
Early November herself bought a load of things like Jaffa cake bars (that still had long BBE dates) that were marked down to half or quarter cost because they had Halloween designs on the packs
My local shop has special deals that change monthly (I think), One time it was Branston beans forgot the exact deal but I was buying a couple of flats (dozen cans in each) at a time for about £2.50 each (they only had limited stock coming in each day).... By the time that gig ended we had nearly a years worth of decent beans.
Keep your eyes open and know what the same stuff would cost from other sources.
I don't understand how the Extreme Couponers work their magic, but I think sometimes you have to buy some useless (to you) crap to get the big payouts. I remember reading one guys blog where he was attempting to live on a dollar a day....He bought a lot of toilet cleaner, cereal and on at least one occasion some 'female products' in order to ramp up on the coupons.

When I worked at Sainsburys about 10 years ago, there was a few "bugs" in the till software which caused massive discounts if you knew how it worked. Sometimes you even got paid to buy things.
I once bought 40 pizzas and a packet of chewing gum for 6p. (Chewing gum to stop the till from crashing, as it would ask you for -20p!)
Ive heard that since then, they have closed the vulnerability.

Re: Couponing?
it is possible to save with coupons if you know where to look and to match them up with reduction in prices, and like anything it takes time and you need to work at it. The number one thing to remember is if you won't use it don't get it!!!

I have to say that show does make me jealous of the US as our coupons don't come close. I will say though with some careful and sometimes time consuming shopping you can get some awesome bargains especially for storage items. See what deals are on in the various supermarket stores as well supersaver, lidl, aldi, 99p stores and don't forget boot sales, the larger ones will have traders and there's always one selling cheap bits.
