A long-time lurker, but first-time poster.
I have always had an interest in preparedness but have started to take it a bit more seriously since buying my first home; I am living quite close to a river and although there are good, well-serviced defences in place (insurance was no problem), the possibilities of flooding are still there. I would like to start planning for the very real chances of flood, but also for broader disasters of varying scale:
- UK natural disasters - flooding, severe thunderstorms and hurricanes etc.
anthropogenic disasters - chemical spills, release of radioactive materials or conventional war etc.
financial disruption - loss of job, hyperinflation, deflation etc.
general collapse of what is normal - shortage or unavailability of resources including electricity, water, petrol etc.
epidemics and pandemics etc.
widespread or local chaos - rioting etc.
Thanks,
A Newbie Prepper
