A beginner...

Post by bigdasher »

This has been on my mind for a while, and today the BBC World Service had a programme on about prepping and they mentioned that there were Preppers in the UK, which is how I found the site. Happy to say that my husband also listened to the programme, so he is on board.
So first things first, I am taking this very slowly and trying to be methodic, so I hope people will be patient...I need to get an idea as to how much water I will need. Thankfully we do have a massive space under the house, so thats where I would store it. Any suggestions as to how much I need to store for 6 adults and two dogs ( can preppers have dogs?)

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to the forum.

We have a whole section on water so although its times consuming its well worth the time having a good read.

Hello and welcome, Starting to prep can be overwhelming, i literally spent days searching these forums for bits of info on my main concerns and then was able to get a great understanding from there. I guess you can never have enough water really but it does come down to what sort of prepping you want to do. Short term, long term, bugging in or bugging out. Cos it may be a good idea to store large butts of water but if SHTF and you need to bug out that water might not be able to go with you

IMHO, it doesn't matter how long you been doing "it", you are still a beginner anyway.

Read, research, see what's relevant, see how other people do their stuff and see if that fits in with any anticipated scenario. Start with small things like loss of a job or loss of money or a power cut situation and then work up from there.

Hello and welcome from Dundee.. I must agree with all comments posted so far.. we are all beginners until our preps need to be used! You will find so much info in the forums to do with water/food/shelter etc.. You need to decide what it is you are prepping for and work from there..
Everyone here is very friendly and patient so far as I've seen, we are all like minded some more heavily into prepping than others, you just need to find your median.
