I have just been given a 6 foot fridge fridge from the mother in law. I am thinking of putting it in my shed to store canned food inside.
It is just a fridge , no freezer .
It will be used unpowered
Should I do anything with it before storing anything in it ?
It is already very clean

Using an old fridge as storage
We Must learn all the skills that we have Forgotten
Re: Using an old fridge as storage
Perhaps rivet or bolt a hasp and staple for a padlock on it, full of tins it would be too heavy to pinch so you may as well secure it. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Old fridges are great for storage as they prevent big changes in temperature affecting your stored food, allowing you to put stuff in areas that would otherwise not be ideal. Might be worth sticking some moisture absorber stuff inside to stop any moisture build up which could cause mold - obviously depending on what sort of foods you want to put in it.
I'm in Area 7 !
