You can buy a bag of 100 cotton wool balls and a tub of petroleum jelly in a pound shop (even tesco i think) for £2ish. Rain/shine/blowing a gale, I've never failed to get a fire going with a firesteel and cotton ball rubbed with p'jelly!

Like this allot. Reduces boiling time, keeps ash out of your brew, and has straining holes along the sides. Tidy :)

I had a similar(ish) idea floating around in my mind. I was thinking more about a sack-truck type device, robust and light in its construction, with a coupling allowing it to be attached behind a bicycle if necessary and with puncture proof wheels. Once at a bug out location it could be used to gath...

Nice bit of kit and a bit cheaper than the Maxpedition range. Just got to decide what to put in it now.
