I wasnt even interested in prepping until i had kids, i left the army sold up and now i live on a small island with 12 months prepping stores, and 7 acres this enables me to plan longer term, planting tatties, neaps, onions, etc..if tshtf i am in the best place to survive, if it doesnt hit the fan ...

Re: Ideal habitat for survival long term.
The way I look at survival and preparedness you start with the most likely scenarios, job loss, (CHECK) short term disruptions, so you sock up on food and other essentials, (WORKING ON IT) start to get out of debt, (HELL NO, IF SHTF THEY WON'T NEED OR GET WHAT i OWE THEM) put money away.(HARD BUT TR...

Re: Ideal habitat for survival long term.
To be honest I reckon it's impossible to really know how such a situation would play out, Looking at it purely mathematically though, the further away from the big cities you are the better. London had an official population of 8,174,100, Lets say 80,000 of them decide to try there luck in the coun...

Re: What is your concept of Bugging Out?
Your replies have reaffirmed in my mind what I need to do, which is what I was planning anyway - get a small bit of land - dig a hole - camouflage it - fill it with food - then if SHTF, get in shut the door and sit tight lets hope the hole doesnt flood :) Plan A(2) install water pumps. Plan B Build...

Re: What is your concept of Bugging Out?
I was sort of thinking along the lines of economic breakdown and what that brings. There is a certain element of yob mentality out there, whereby at the first signs of trouble, you get out there and loot what you can. In the first few days this element of society will loot and burn, inadvertently de...

What is your concept of Bugging Out?
OK I'm pretty sure we all know that if SHTF a few million people are going to bug out to the countryside, so what I'm asking is - What is your concept of Bugging out? Me? OK - HIDE - If SHTF I reckon to start with the towns and cities will be overrun by gangs of thugs taking what they want from whoe...
