For solar chargers, I have a Freeloader Pico which works quite well for me (Samsung Galaxy S5). You can see them at http://www.solartechnology.co.uk/solar-chargers I can't promise it will work for a daily charge (especially in the winter it takes a couple of days to get up to capacity) but I keep it...

Personally in that situation I wouldn't drink anything (collected from external sources) that hadn't been through at least a 3 stage filter. Activated carbon is cheap enough to pick up, opinions vary on when it is 'used up' but I would think that something like a gram a litre would be a fair estimat...

Your logic sounds pretty good to me! I use reverse osmosis (RO) water for my aquariums, pure RO can cause PH swings especially if a tank is planted. During the day when plants are releasing oxygen, the PH increases (to a point) and during the night when this oxygen generation stops the PH can plumme...
