Re: Interesting article on continuing flour shortages.

I put all flour in the freezer for a few days (Inside plastic wrap to keep it dry) and then I decant into my flour tub and the rest is stored inside an air-tight tub to keep it safe from any wandering/flying critters. I had the nasty visitors once and they decimated my cupboards so now everything l...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Today I did a bulk order of basmati rice, long grain rice, and a big tub of chives. Next month I will bulk buy dried beans, kidney and chickpeas are two of my staples and then I can can my own for the pantry cupboard. Got a few jars to keep me going but I'm not happy to have lower stocks of my stapl...

Re: Interesting article on continuing flour shortages.

I dont know if this will help but I remember reading that if you put your bags of flour into ziplock bags then freeze it for 24 hours it destroys the eggs of the mite thingys that is in all flour because the freezing kills the eggs thus prolonging the shelflife. Sadly I cannot confirm this as accur...

Re: Blueberries

Might be worth trying? It might work a treat and you will have your own berries to pick? I would go for it.

Re: Blueberries

I love blueberries in baked goods but for some reason I can't stand to eat them just as berries. No idea why either  I do however love redcurrants and blackcurrants and have one of each in huge pots on my lottie plot. Fingers crossed for a good harvest this year! the berry drawer in the freeze...

Re: Blueberries

Found this for you both: Blueberries are relatively easy to look after. Keep the compost or soil moist, but not soaking wet. Don’t allow it to dry out between waterings. Water plants with rainwater, not tap water, unless you have no alternative in a drought. Tap water will raise the pH level and blu...

Yes she's an indoor cat too. Never been outside in her life. But she doesn't show any interest in it anyway, thank goodness. Too busy hiding around the house winding us up.. How beautiful!! Those eyes, makes you go all mushy inside! Mine is a typical Felix, black and White just like the adverts! He...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Decaff I'm having the same nightmare. We got Beeglie at 8 months when she was firmly stuck in her pattern of one type of food and one type of litter. Got the litter sorted but the food is the same as you - she eats only dry Persian kibble and delicately picks round any wet food on the plate. I've s...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Slowly building up the loo roll stash, got 2 extra packs of 24. Stocking up on extra tins of tomatoes, carrots and peas and have been introducing these into the lunches and dinners to get them used to the different taste (they don't mind in soups and stews but not so keen as stand alone sides). Got ...
